Her family operated the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery established in 1847 in Erie Pennsylvania where her grandfather John Martin Magenau Jr. served as President and CEO from 1847 until the brewery's closure in the year 1978. Jacobs went to her local theater, the Pittsburgh Playhouse on Saturdays to take acting classes. At the age of 8 she began her acting studies. Mt. Jacobs graduated from Lebanon High School in New York in 2000. Then she moved to New York City to pursue studies at the Juilliard School. She earned her bachelor's degree in 2004.
